Mother of Fallen Israeli Commander Praises Operation Killing Raids Attack Leader
Miriam Bozokshvili, mother of the late Deputy Superintendent Yitzhak Bozokshvili, who was killed in the battles at Kibbutz Re'im on October 7, expressed her feelings following the recent killing of the head of the Nukhba cell responsible for the raid on the Re'im camp. In an interview, she emphasized that the operation demonstrates Israel's resolve to reach every terrorist and not relent. She described her son as a "hero of Israel and a great man" who prioritized saving civilians, including his daughter, over his own safety before falling in combat.
Miriam recalled that Yitzhak was not originally supposed to be at Re'im that morning but took command after hearing that the commander of the Segev Shalom station needed assistance. He rescued hundreds of people during the fighting, repeatedly returning to dangerous areas despite orders to stop, stating, "The people of Israel are more important to me right now than myself." She recounted a poignant moment when Yitzhak encountered his daughter on the battlefield, placed her in his vehicle, and returned her safely to the station before going back to fight until he was killed.
While Miriam stopped short of calling the killing of the terrorist leader a complete closure, she expressed satisfaction with the state's actions, saying, "We are very happy that the State of Israel does not give up and strikes those who harmed us. Such people cannot live; their only goal is to destroy the people of Israel, and they have no place here." She stressed the broader significance of these targeted killings as a message to enemies that Israel lives on and that those who seek to divide or harm it will ultimately face justice.
Miriam concluded with hope that the state will continue to hold accountable all who harm its citizens, honoring her son's sacrifice and heroism.
