Deadly Poisoning Attack Kills Guard Dogs in West Bank's Givat Tal Settlement
In a disturbing incident in the West Bank's Givat Tal settlement, two guard dogs died within minutes after ingesting lethal poison placed by militants in grazing areas. The attack occurred overnight on Saturday when militants from the nearby Palestinian village of Kucra infiltrated the grazing lands of Givat Tal and scattered poison mixed with food scraps as bait for the sheep herd.
According to settlers, the guard dogs, which typically lead the herd, were the first to consume the poisoned bait and quickly exhibited severe symptoms including convulsions and foaming at the mouth. The shepherd recognized the poisoning and managed to remove the sheep from the area, but was unable to save the dogs despite attempts to provide medical aid.
This poisoning marks the seventh such attack targeting settlements in Judea and Samaria since the beginning of the year. Just last week, militants from the village of Al-Mu'ayer poisoned a flock of sheep at a farm in Binyamin, resulting in the death of two sheep and severe poisoning symptoms in 15 others. Rescue organization "Yosh Without Borders" reported the increasing frequency of these attacks.
Settlers at Givat Tal condemned the security forces' response, accusing them of indifference and warning that the lack of arrests or prolonged detentions is encouraging further attacks. They emphasized that despite the militants' attempts to undermine their presence on Jabal Ein Ein, a strategic hill in the area, they will continue to strengthen their hold and not be deterred by such terror acts.
The Israeli military has not yet issued a statement regarding this latest poisoning attack.
