Tamir Blatt's Future Uncertain Amid Disputes with Hapoel Tel Aviv Basketball

Tamir Blatt, who had a strong individual season with Maccabi Tel Aviv, currently faces uncertainty regarding his next career move despite agreeing to a lucrative three-year contract with Hapoel Tel Aviv worth $1.6 million net per season. The deal is now stalled due to internal disagreements within Hapoel Tel Aviv, with no ongoing negotiations between the club and Blatt. Notably, Blatt has not had direct communication with coach Dimitris Itoudis, according to sources from Hapoel.

The coaching staff values Blatt but doubts he can be just another squad player after years in the EuroLeague. They believe he requires significant playing time, which they feel cannot be guaranteed alongside star player Vasa Micić in the current team setup. This has created a split within Hapoel between those supporting signing Blatt, Israel’s top guard, and others preferring a less dominant player with lower expectations.

Meanwhile, Hapoel’s coaching team is scouting for a high-level guard with strong athleticism at the Las Vegas Summer League to complement Micić. On the Israeli front, the club is also pursuing Max Heidegger from Spain’s Burgos, hoping he will accept a clearly defined role.
