Senior political sources told Channel 7 that the Religious Zionism party has made its backing of the kosher certification law contingent on appointing a Religious Zionist chief rabbi in Ra'anana. According to these sources, the leading candidate for the position is Rabbi Avichai Katzin. This condition was part of political agreements linked to advancing the kosher certification legislation in the committee chaired by Knesset member Ohad Tal. The committee for selecting Ra'anana's chief rabbi convened and set the election date for August 24, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, at the Yad LaBanim House in the city council chamber. The Ministry of Religious Services confirmed the election details. This development follows political negotiations that tied the appointment to the progress of the kosher law, reflecting the influence of Religious Zionism within the coalition dynamics.
