Dimona Mayor Calls for Full Authority to Netanyahu Over Likud Primaries

Benny Biton, mayor of Dimona and member of the Likud leadership team seeking a framework to help Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu limit the party primaries, stated in an interview with ynet that Netanyahu should be granted full authority over the candidate list. Biton argued it is unacceptable for other leaders like Avigdor Lieberman, Naftali Bennett, or Gadi Eisenkot to determine their own lists while Netanyahu, who secured 32 mandates for the party, is restricted from making changes. He also noted that many Knesset members and ministers have contacted him expressing opposition to primaries and support for transferring all decision-making powers to Netanyahu.
