Sex Offender in Nof HaGalil Charged with Setting 10 Fires After Police Stop Him from Drinking Beer

A sex offender in his 40s from Nof HaGalil has been charged with igniting ten fires across the city after a police officer prevented him from drinking beer, which was prohibited under his supervision order. According to the indictment, about two weeks ago, a police officer noticed the suspect consuming beer despite the court order forbidding alcohol consumption. When the officer confronted him, the suspect poured the beer onto the street and shortly afterward began setting multiple fires.

The fires included a container, dry grass in a public area, and other locations, causing damage estimated at thousands of shekels. The police launched an investigation at the Nof HaGalil station and subsequently located and arrested the suspect. During his arrest, the suspect threatened one of the officers, saying, "Listen, if you want to take off your uniform, we'll have a 'fire fight.' I promise to embarrass you."

Yesterday, the Northern District Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment against the man at the Nof HaGalil-Nazareth District Court, charging him with arson, threats, and violating the supervision order. The case highlights the suspect's escalation from violating court restrictions to committing multiple arson offenses in the city.
