Tiberias Football Club Accuses Israeli Football Association of Ignoring Doping Evidence Against Other Teams
The doping scandal involving Ironi Tiberias football club continues to escalate as the club accuses the Israeli Football Association and its hired investigation firm of ignoring explicit testimony about doping practices in other Israeli Premier League teams. According to Tiberias, at least one senior player testified that the use of injections for recovery is a common practice in Israeli football and named another established Premier League club where he previously played. The testimony detailed that several players from that club were taken together to external clinics to receive injections as part of their recovery process.
Tiberias claims that despite this testimony being in the possession of the Football Association for several weeks, no investigation has been opened against the other club, nor have players or staff been summoned for questioning. A source from Ironi Tiberias questioned why the association ignores evidence implicating other teams and why no inquiry has been initiated despite direct and detailed testimony. The club suspects selective enforcement, noting that while immediate actions such as temporary suspensions and a broad investigation were taken against Ironi Tiberias, similar evidence regarding other clubs has not been addressed.
The Tiberias representative emphasized that there should not be a double standard between their club and older, wealthier teams. They demand the Football Association clarify whether an investigation has been launched based on the testimony and, if not, explain the decision to refrain from action. The Football Association's response is pending and will be published once received.
