Iran's Mojtaba Khamenei Vows Revenge for Father Ali Khamenei's Death

Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of Iran's former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, issued a written statement on Saturday calling for revenge over his father's death. He pledged to avenge Ali Khamenei's killing, describing it as a demand of the Iranian nation that must be fulfilled soon. The statement was released during the funeral of Ali Khamenei, who was reportedly assassinated by Israel at the start of the "Roaring Lion" operation.

In his speech to Iranian state media, Mojtaba Khamenei vowed loyalty to his father's path and promised that the regime would remain steadfast. He emphasized that the list of perpetrators is known and that the demand for revenge does not depend on his presence or that of other senior officials. "Whether we are here or not, this demand will be realized," he said.

Earlier reports from April indicated that Mojtaba was seriously wounded and unconscious after being present with his father during the Israeli attack on the building. According to a British Times report citing U.S. and Israeli intelligence, Mojtaba was treated in the holy city of Qom. The funeral drew attention in Tehran, with some residents commenting on misleading television coverage. U.S. officials had believed Israel planned to target senior members of the Iranian delegation during the operation.
