Iran's Mojtaba Khamenei Wants to Attend Father's Funeral Despite Security Concerns

Mojtaba Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran's son, has expressed his desire to attend the funeral of his father, Ali Khamenei, scheduled for July 9 at the Imam Reza Shrine. According to two members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and a person involved in planning the funeral, Mojtaba wishes to recite the prayer for the deceased over his father's body. However, Iranian security officials have so far opposed this plan, fearing that Israel might attempt to assassinate Mojtaba or monitor his movements to his hiding place. These concerns have led to resistance against allowing him to be present at the burial ceremony.
