Barcelona Signs German Winger Karim Adeyemi in €22 Million Deal from Dortmund
Barcelona has secured the transfer of 24-year-old German winger Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund after prolonged negotiations. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Catalan club agreed to pay €22 million upfront, with an additional €7 million in performance-related bonuses. Adeyemi, who has expressed a strong desire to join Barcelona, is expected to sign a five-year contract with the Spanish champions.
Barcelona had pursued Adeyemi for some time, previously offering €20 million to Dortmund, which was rejected as the German club sought over €30 million. Ultimately, Barcelona compromised on a lower fee to finalize the deal. This signing marks Barcelona's second major acquisition this summer, following the earlier €70 million purchase of English midfielder Anthony Gordon from Newcastle, plus €10 million in potential bonuses.
Born in Munich, Adeyemi developed in Bayern Munich's youth system before starting his professional career at Red Bull Salzburg, including a two-year loan to Austria's Liefering. He joined Borussia Dortmund in summer 2022 and scored 10 goals in 39 appearances last season across all competitions. Adeyemi has also earned 11 caps and scored once for the German national team.
