Barcelona Signs German Winger Karim Adeyemi from Dortmund for €22 Million
Barcelona has finalized the signing of 24-year-old German winger Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund after lengthy negotiations. According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal is worth €22 million plus up to €7 million in performance-related bonuses. Adeyemi is expected to sign a five-year contract with the Spanish champions.
Barcelona had pursued Adeyemi for some time, initially offering €20 million, which Dortmund rejected as they sought over €30 million. Barcelona ultimately compromised on a lower fee to secure the transfer. This marks Barcelona's second major signing this summer, following the acquisition of English midfielder Anthony Gordon from Newcastle for €70 million plus €10 million in bonuses.
Born in Munich, Adeyemi developed in Bayern Munich's youth system before starting his professional career at Red Bull Salzburg, including a two-year loan to Austria's Liefering. He joined Dortmund in summer 2022 and scored 10 goals in 39 appearances last season. Adeyemi has also made 11 appearances for the German national team, scoring once.
