Grenade Explosion Rocks Netanya Residential Building for Second Time in Four Months

Residents of a residential building on Shalom Aleichem Street in Netanya were jolted awake early Friday morning by a powerful explosion caused by a grenade thrown near the building's elevators. The blast occurred around 4 a.m. when masked individuals approached the building and hurled the grenade, which detonated close to the elevator area. One resident described the noise as a "huge boom" and initially feared it was an Iranian missile, but thankfully no one was injured.

The explosion caused significant damage: a ground-floor apartment door was displaced, dust entered the apartment, and the lobby and elevators suffered heavy damage with shrapnel marks visible on walls and ceiling. Another resident recounted that the lobby filled with smoke, and many neighbors were frightened, initially suspecting a terrorist attack. This incident marks the second grenade attack on the same building within four months. The previous attack involved a stun grenade thrown outside the lobby doors, which also alarmed residents.

Since the earlier attack, at least three families have moved out, and following the latest explosion, more residents are planning to leave. One tenant said she has already started searching for new apartments, expressing frustration over the repeated violence and questioning why anyone with a dispute would endanger all residents. Another resident emphasized the difficulty of moving due to children’s schooling but insisted they would not remain in a building repeatedly targeted by attacks.

The Israel Police launched an investigation immediately after receiving the report, stating that all necessary measures are being taken to uncover the facts behind the incident.
