Anan Halaily Transfers to Inter Milan in Record Israeli Deal
Anan Halaily has flown to Milan to finalize his high-profile transfer to Inter Milan, who will pay 25 million euros to Union Saint-Gilloise, plus future bonuses. This deal follows lengthy negotiations, with the Belgian club accepting an improved offer after rejecting an earlier 20 million euro bid. The transfer will become the most expensive ever for an Israeli player. Halaily has already agreed on personal terms with Inter, including a five-year contract worth 2.2 million euros per season, pending medical tests scheduled for the following day.
Inter entered the race relatively late but managed to outbid Napoli, who had been in prolonged talks with Halaily and his club. Maccabi Haifa, Halaily's previous club before his move to Belgium, will receive 3.5 million euros from the transfer. Halaily completed the 2025/26 season as one of Union Saint-Gilloise's standout players, transitioning from an attacking winger to a versatile right-sided player capable of playing as a right-back. He made 46 appearances across all competitions, scoring six goals and providing five assists, including three goals in seven Champions League matches, where he notably scored twice against Marseille.
Halaily joined Union Saint-Gilloise in summer 2024 from Maccabi Haifa and quickly became one of Europe's most sought-after talents. His performances, especially in the Champions League, impressed Inter's management. The move to Inter represents a major step up in his career as he aims to secure a place in coach Christian Kibu's starting lineup. Inter believes Halaily's versatility and potential will make him a key squad member in the coming years.
