Jordan and Gulf States Maintain Diplomatic Stance Despite Iranian Attacks
Despite recent Iranian attacks, Jordan and Gulf countries continue to prioritize diplomacy over confrontation, aiming to prevent further regional escalation. According to a report by Kan News, the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran fails to reassure Arab states, especially Gulf nations, that Tehran will restrain its actions. Iran maintains a stance that any tension around the Strait of Hormuz results in harm to Arab and Gulf countries, a dynamic that reportedly did not exist before the war began. Tehran also refuses to relinquish control over the Strait of Hormuz, despite potential negative consequences for the Gulf states and the broader region.
A Jordanian official close to the government in Amman stated that despite the Iranian attack, Jordan continues to support diplomacy and calls for dialogue to halt escalation and conflict, ensuring respect for Arab states' sovereignty. However, the official emphasized a clear red line for Jordan: no entity will be allowed to breach its airspace. Currently, Jordan and most Gulf countries maintain a defensive posture, seeking to avoid escalation, while Iran continues offensive measures and increases pressure in the region.
