Communications Consultant Ronen Tzur Sues Journalist Avishay Greenstein and i24news for Over 2 Million Shekels
Communications consultant and strategist Ronen Tzur has filed a defamation lawsuit exceeding two million shekels against journalist Avishay Greenstein and the i24news channel. Tzur alleges that a series of publications and tweets attributed to Greenstein contained false claims and defamatory statements that severely damaged his reputation.
A key issue in the lawsuit concerns a report by Greenstein claiming that during a job interview at Tzur's office, a candidate was asked a question related to Yehuda Meshi Zahav. Tzur denies this allegation, calling it false and harmful to his good name. Additionally, the lawsuit cites two tweets by Greenstein on the social media platform X, in which Greenstein labeled Tzur "the most corrupt man in Israeli media" and accused him of habitually lying. Tzur argues these statements go beyond legitimate criticism and constitute defamation.
Tzur also includes i24news as a defendant, asserting that the channel widely disseminated these damaging publications through its broadcast platform. This is not the first legal dispute between Tzur and Greenstein; a previous defamation suit ended in a settlement without a court ruling on the merits.
In the current case, Tzur demands compensation exceeding two million shekels for the alleged harm to his professional standing and reputation. As of now, neither Greenstein nor i24news has submitted a defense, and the court has yet to examine the claims. Greenstein responded dismissively, calling the lawsuit "absurd" and predicting it will end "in nothing," while wishing Tzur a healthy summer and enjoyable vacation.
