Journalist Guy Peleg and Yitzhak Malul Settle Legal Dispute Without Compensation
Journalist and legal commentator Guy Peleg and Yitzhak Malul have resolved their mutual legal claims through a settlement agreement, ending their court battle without any damages awarded. The dispute arose after Peleg, on his 103FM radio show, used the term "Bibi-ism" and described it with harsh terms such as "violent," "dangerous," and "nationalistic." Malul responded on air but claimed Peleg interrupted him, calling him a "Bibi-ist" and cutting off his broadcast.
Following the broadcast, Malul filed a lawsuit against Peleg and the radio station, demanding 160,000 shekels in damages. Peleg then filed a countersuit, accusing Malul of repeatedly posting defamatory remarks about him on social media over the years, seeking compensation and removal of those posts.
Before the case proceeded further, both parties agreed to a settlement. As part of the agreement, Malul committed to removing the offending posts and issuing a public apology acknowledging that some of his statements were inappropriate and expressing regret for any harm caused to Peleg's reputation. The radio station had already removed Peleg's program from its website and issued an apology to Malul earlier in the process.
The settlement concluded the legal proceedings without a court ruling on the claims from either side, and no financial compensation was granted to either party.
