Lawyer Sues Comedian Naor Zion for Defamation and Copyright Infringement
Attorney Shay Elias has filed a lawsuit against comedian and social media personality Naor Zion, accusing him of defamation and copyright infringement. The suit, submitted to the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court, demands 200,000 shekels in damages, including 150,000 for defamation and 50,000 for copyright violations, as well as the removal of the offending content and prevention of further publications.
The lawsuit centers on a video posted by Zion on June 12, 2026, in which he allegedly insulted Elias with derogatory nicknames such as "poodle," "punching bag kid," "junior lawyer," and "publicity seeker." Zion is also accused of attributing false claims to Elias, including filing frivolous lawsuits, lacking professional judgment, losing client trust, and disrespect from courts. The video reportedly featured a dubbed segment falsely putting words in Elias's mouth and used an edited image of Elias's head superimposed on a dog's body without permission, which Elias claims violates his moral rights and copyrights.
Elias contends the video gained wide exposure on social media platforms, damaging his professional reputation and career. Despite sending a cease-and-desist letter demanding removal, correction, or apology, Zion did not comply. The lawsuit seeks compensation, removal of all related posts, and coverage of legal fees. As of now, Zion has not filed a defense, and the court has yet to rule on the case.
