Hapoel Tel Aviv Considers Signing Top European Center Moses Wright Amid Barcelona Uncertainty
Hapoel Tel Aviv is considering signing Moses Wright, a prominent center who was recently offered to the club. Wright, 27, who stands 2.07 meters tall, played last season for Žalgiris Kaunas, averaging 13.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. He had agreed to terms with Barcelona on a three-year contract worth $1.7 million per season, but turmoil within the Spanish club has cast doubt on his signing.
Despite having a contract with Barcelona, Wright has an exit clause, and several teams, including Hapoel Tel Aviv, are reportedly interested in activating it. The Israeli club sees an opportunity to acquire the center, potentially replacing Jonathan Motley, who is expected to leave as his agents seek a new team for him. Currently, Hapoel Tel Aviv's roster includes centers Tai Odiase and Dan Otero, and adding Wright could strengthen their frontcourt to a top EuroLeague level.
Wright has completed his third EuroLeague season, having also played for Olympiacos. His career includes brief stints in the NBA with the Los Angeles Clippers and Dallas Mavericks, totaling four appearances, as well as experience in the Chinese and Turkish leagues. Wright has expressed a strong desire to join Barcelona, but the club's internal issues may open the door for Hapoel Tel Aviv to secure his services.
