IDF Kills Muhammad Faiz, Claimed Humanitarian Official, Revealed as Senior Fatah Terrorist in Gaza

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) struck a vehicle in Gaza City's Sabra neighborhood yesterday, killing Muhammad Faiz al-Wahidi, also known as "Abu Suhaib." Initially, the IDF issued an apology, stating the attack was a mistake and that Faiz was not the intended target. Officially, Faiz was described as the head of the "Office of the Honored" in Gaza, representing the Egyptian Committee for Gaza Reconstruction, a government body operating under Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi's guidance.

However, investigative reporting reveals a starkly different reality. Muhammad Faiz was not a neutral humanitarian worker but a senior Fatah terrorist with close ties to Hamas and a key figure in Gaza's militant activities. His background includes serving as Fatah's official spokesperson in Sabra, membership in the movement's central reform committee, and secretary to the notorious militant Amin al-Hindi. In 2014, Hamas awarded him a special honor for his leadership in eastern Gaza.

The blurred lines between terrorism and reconstruction efforts are underscored by Fatah's official mourning statement, which referred to Faiz explicitly as a "commander," "leader," and "fighter," rejecting any portrayal of him as a civilian or humanitarian figure. This incident highlights the deliberate obfuscation in Gaza, where individuals involved in terror activities may hold official positions in reconstruction committees, complicating international efforts to distinguish between civilian and militant actors.
