IDF Launches Operation to Stop Stone-Throwing Attacks Near Yitzhar Settlement
The Israel Defense Forces conducted a focused operation between Tuesday night and Wednesday to curb the rising number of stone-throwing attacks near the Yitzhar settlement, located close to Highway 60 in the West Bank. The operation lasted about 24 hours and aimed to combat terror activities, including the placement of dummy explosive devices in the area.
During the operation, over sixty suspects were interrogated and more than fifty structures were searched. Additionally, IDF forces cleared vegetation used by attackers for camouflage to prevent further incidents. The engineering officer of the Shomron Brigade explained that the operation was part of a broad effort to dismantle terror infrastructure and send a clear message of zero tolerance toward stone-throwing attacks.
The officer emphasized the strategy behind the operation, stating that any terror activity involving stone-throwing will be met with actions that remove the attackers' capabilities, aiming to deter such attacks by making them unprofitable. According to the C14 news project "The Silenced Daily Terror," six stone-throwing incidents have been reported since early July in various locations across the West Bank, including near Yitzhar, Aviezer sheep farm, the bypass road near Hawara, and Rachel Crossing.
This operation reflects ongoing efforts by the IDF to address and reduce terror attacks in the region through targeted security measures and intelligence gathering.
