Knesset Legal Advisor Orders Compliance with Supreme Court on State Comptroller Re-Elections
Knesset legal advisor Attorney Shagit Afek ruled that the Knesset must comply with the Supreme Court's decision and hold repeat elections for the State Comptroller "as soon as possible," specifying a timeframe of within two weeks. This ruling comes amid coalition calls to defy the court's verdict, which invalidated the previous election due to violations of the secrecy principle, after lawmakers were recorded voting for Attorney Michael Regev. In her legal opinion, Afek noted that the repeat election process could be conducted during the Knesset recess.
