Justice Minister Yariv Levin Urges Defiance of Supreme Court Ruling on State Comptroller Election
Israeli Justice Minister Yariv Levin has called for ignoring the Supreme Court's decision regarding the election of the State Comptroller in the Knesset. In a radio interview with Kol Barama, Levin stated that there should be no hesitation and that holding repeat elections for the State Comptroller position is unacceptable. He insisted that Attorney Michael Regev should assume the role immediately and that no one can prevent him from doing so. The Supreme Court had invalidated the previous Knesset vote due to violations of the secret ballot principle, after lawmakers recorded themselves voting in the plenary session, and ordered new elections to be held.
