Ultra-Orthodox Activist Demonstrates Plastic Handcuff Escape Device on Channel 12 Live
During a live broadcast on Channel 12 news, an unusual invention was showcased designed to help yeshiva students and draft evaders quickly free themselves from police handcuffs. David Rozenberg, affiliated with the extremist ultra-Orthodox faction known as the Kannaim, presented the device, which resembles a simple plastic clip similar to those used for closing file folders or belts. The key innovation is that the entire device is made of plastic, containing no metal parts, allowing it to be carried unnoticed through police metal detectors.
Hidden inside the clip is a tiny handcuff key that can be easily extracted when needed. To demonstrate its effectiveness, reporter Eli Cohen was handcuffed with real metal police handcuffs live on air. Using only the concealed key inside the plastic clip, Cohen was able to unlock the handcuffs and free himself within seconds. The program host, Oded Ben Ami, expressed amazement at the ingenuity and precision of the device, concluding the segment with a humorous remark about the simplicity of the method.
