Northern District police conducted a search in the village of Tuba-Zangariyya at the end of March, uncovering a bag buried underground containing stun grenades, weapon parts, and a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG). This discovery triggered an expanded investigation that resulted in five indictments against two local residents aged 25 and 21. The suspects were arrested, interrogated, and held under extended detention before being released under restrictive conditions.
During the investigation, authorities employed advanced technological methods and covert operations, revealing additional weapons offenses. The suspects are also alleged to have been involved in firearm shootings and the use of an M4 military rifle belonging to a 21-year-old soldier from the nearby village of Suad.
The Northern District Prosecutor's Office filed five indictments at the Nazareth-Nof HaGalil District Court against the two men, charging them with illegal possession, purchase, transport, and carrying of firearms, conspiracy to commit a crime, threats, and discharging a firearm in a residential area. Prosecutors have requested their detention until the conclusion of legal proceedings.
Police emphasized their ongoing commitment to combating weapons offenses and violence by utilizing all available resources to prevent serious crimes, protect public safety, and ensure that offenders face justice.
