Elderly Scholars and Their Sons Celebrate Talmud Completion with Joyful Dance in Kfar Chabad

In a heartfelt ceremony held at Kfar Chabad, dozens of senior scholars from the "Beit Menachem" kollel celebrated the completion of the Talmudic tractate Bava Metzia. The event, marked by festive tables and a warm atmosphere, brought together the elder learners alongside their sons, including rabbis, judges, and public figures who took time from their busy schedules to honor their fathers' dedication to Torah study.

The program began with blessings from Rabbi Moshe Shmuel Halevi Horowitz, the kollel director, followed by a keynote address from Rabbi Yosef Strasberg, who offered a deep Torah analysis connecting the end and beginning of the tractate. The guest of honor, Rabbi Meir Ashkenazi, praised the elders for their steadfast commitment to regular Torah study in their advanced years, highlighting their example for younger generations. He then inaugurated the study of the new tractate Makkot.

Emotional moments unfolded as the sons of the learners spoke, including Rabbi Eliezer Brod, a member of the Chief Rabbinate Council, who reflected on the Lubavitcher Rebbe's vision for senior kollels. Rabbi Yaakov Shlomo Biton, a neighborhood rabbi in Rishon Lezion, emphasized the intergenerational respect for Torah learning. Regional Council head David Yifrah expressed pride in supporting such a distinguished Torah institution.

The event concluded with spirited dancing involving all participants, elders, their sons, rabbis, and community leaders, led by Rabbi Yaakov Lerner, the kollel's spiritual mentor, celebrating the joy of Torah and the continuity of tradition. The ceremony also included acknowledgments to the kollel's teachers and administrators for their dedicated service.
