Mads Pedersen Wins Stage 4 as Norwegian Torstein Træen Takes Yellow Jersey at Tour de France
After three grueling days, the favorites eased off the pace in Stage 4 of the Tour de France, allowing a breakaway to steal the spotlight. Danish cyclist Mads Pedersen claimed victory in the 181-kilometer stage finishing in Foix, winning a selective sprint at the line. This marked Pedersen's first Tour de France stage win since 2023, achieved after leading a group of 10 riders for nearly 178 kilometers.
Kevin Simons, the US national champion and Pedersen's teammate at Lidl-Trek, finished second, with Raúl García of Movistar taking third place. Marco Frigo from NSN and Rasmus de Breyne rounded out the top five. The Scandinavian celebration continued as Norwegian rider Torstein Træen of the UNO-X team took the yellow jersey by moving up to eighth place overall.
All the main favorites crossed the finish line 13 minutes behind Pedersen, resulting in Tadej Pogačar losing the yellow jersey just one day after acquiring it. Jonas Vingegaard, Isaac del Toro, and Remco Evenepoel finished safely alongside Pogačar. The race now sees a shift in leadership with Træen wearing the coveted yellow jersey moving forward.
