Deputy Attorney General Criticizes Process for Basic Law on Torah Study as Improper

Avital Sompolinsky, Deputy Legal Advisor to the Government, told a Knesset committee that the legislative process for passing the Basic Law on Torah Study is flawed. She stated, "The process is already improper, and in the end, we will see if this defect goes to the root of the procedure, justifying the extraordinary remedy of court intervention." Meanwhile, coalition members are considering including IDF servicemembers in the Basic Law on Torah Study before finalizing its wording.
