Mojtaba Khamenei Does Not Appear at Father Ali Khamenei's Funeral Despite Viral Video Claims

In Iran, rumors circulated for hours that Mojtaba Khamenei, the newly appointed supreme leader, secretly attended the funeral of his father, Ali Khamenei, who was recently assassinated. The speculation was fueled by a blurry and edited video clip from the funeral in Tehran, where an announcer seemingly mentioned Mojtaba's presence and a figure wearing a turban was identified by some social media users as the new leader.

However, Fars News Agency, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, issued a clarification stating that the identification was mistaken. They released clearer footage showing that the person in the video was not Mojtaba Khamenei. Reuters also reported that Mojtaba did not attend the large funeral events, noting that while three of his brothers were seen at the ceremony, Mojtaba himself remained out of public view with no verified images or footage since his appointment.

His conspicuous absence from the regime's most significant event since his father's assassination has fueled ongoing rumors and speculation both inside and outside Iran. As of now, there is no official confirmation or credible evidence that Mojtaba participated in the funeral, and the main piece of evidence suggesting his presence has been debunked by pro-government Iranian media.
