Netanyahu Accepts Supreme Court Recommendation to Cancel and Review Israel Land Authority Director Appointment

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, and Housing Minister Haim Katz informed the Supreme Court that they accept the judges' recommendation to cancel the appointment of Yehuda Eliyahu as Director of the Israel Land Authority (ILA). They agreed to return the appointment process to a renewed selection committee for reconsideration. This announcement was made during hearings on three petitions filed against Eliyahu's appointment.

According to the court-approved arrangements, the selection committee will reconvene to reexamine the candidates for the position. The committee's composition will be updated in line with the Supreme Court's recommendation, replacing two members, Meiran Prozner and Professor Idit Solberg, with new representatives. While accepting the court's recommendation, the government requested that Yehuda Eliyahu continue serving temporarily until a permanent replacement is found or the new committee completes its work and a final decision is made.
