Israeli Paramedic Revives Dog Trapped in Elevator Doors in Hadera
In Hadera, a dramatic rescue unfolded when paramedics from Magen David Adom (MDA) were called to a residential building after a report of a person trapped in an elevator. Upon arrival, the team discovered a dog named Kora caught between the elevator doors, suspended by her harness as the elevator ascended. Emergency medical technicians Shoval Katzin and Siggi Edri, along with paramedic Majdi Abu Tuama, found Kora in critical condition, with a purple tongue, red bulging eyes, and difficulty breathing.
The team managed to open the elevator doors enough to free Kora by cutting her harness. Meanwhile, the dog's owner, Daniel, who was trapped inside the elevator, was safely released without injury. Shortly after the rescue, Kora's heart stopped beating, prompting Katzin to perform chest compressions. Katzin had privately trained in canine CPR but had never before needed to apply it in the field. After several tense minutes, Kora's heartbeat returned, and she regained consciousness. The paramedics administered oxygen before transferring her to veterinary care.
Katzin emphasized the importance of caution when entering or exiting elevators with dogs, advising owners to keep leashes short and hold their pets close. Daniel expressed deep gratitude to the MDA team for their swift and effective response, crediting them with saving Kora's life.
