Former California Doctor Found Dead in Pool Following Patient's Fatal Surgery
Sarwa Aldoori, a 71-year-old former obstetrician and gynecologist from Bakersfield, California, was found dead in a swimming pool at a private residence. Authorities discovered her body on Tuesday evening and are currently investigating the circumstances and cause of her death, which have not yet been officially determined.
Aldoori lost her medical license approximately two years ago after a disciplinary case related to a cosmetic surgery procedure she performed. The California Medical Board had initially placed her on a seven-year probation but later revoked her license after she failed to meet the required oversight conditions. The case involved a liposuction and tummy tuck operation in April 2016 that resulted in the patient's death due to a fat embolism, a life-threatening condition where fat enters the bloodstream.
The medical board's records indicated Aldoori lacked sufficient training to perform the procedure. She had worked for about 35 years in women's health and later at Bella Health and Beauty, a cosmetic surgery clinic in northeast Bakersfield. While no official connection has been established between her professional history and her death, investigators are awaiting forensic results to determine whether her death was due to drowning, a medical event, or other causes.
The investigation remains active as authorities seek to clarify the events leading to Aldoori's death in her backyard pool.
