Israeli Fire Authority Shuts Down Tchernobyl Yeshiva in Elad Over Severe Safety Violations
Roni Kedem, Commander of the Central District of Israel Fire and Rescue Services, issued an urgent administrative closure order for the "Gaon Tzvi Tchernobyl" yeshiva in Elad. The decision followed an inspection revealing severe safety deficiencies that pose an immediate threat to human life and property. The institution was found operating independently without the legally required fire safety approvals. Approximately 180 students, many of them minors, reside in the building.
The closure order emphasized the extreme danger present, warning that in the event of a fire, the building could become a deadly trap for its occupants. The hazardous conditions also endanger nearby residents living close to the property. After reviewing all professional and operational factors, authorities mandated an immediate halt to all activities until all safety violations are corrected and all necessary permits are obtained.
