Ner Zarach Yeshiva Prepares to Open Elul Term Despite Fire Safety Approval Delay

The Ner Zarach Yeshiva in the Otzem moshav is preparing to open its Elul term on Sunday despite not yet receiving fire safety approval from the Fire and Rescue Services. Although renovations and repairs have been made to address safety deficiencies, including work on the kitchen and other areas, the fire authorities have clearly stated that students are not permitted to return to the premises at this stage.

In recent days, the yeshiva leadership attempted to persuade the fire officials to grant the necessary clearance, but these efforts have so far been unsuccessful. Nonetheless, the yeshiva's supervisor, Rabbi Avraham Kozukin, has instructed preparations to proceed for the students’ return on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the yeshiva is holding an introductory meeting and opening lesson for new first-year students this evening at the Mishkanot Yaakov synagogue in Bnei Brak, with participation from the yeshiva rabbis. It remains to be seen whether a breakthrough with the fire authorities will occur before Sunday to allow the yeshiva to open at its Otzem location with official approval, or if an alternative venue will need to be arranged.
