Israeli Police Seize Tens of Millions in Union Bribery Probe Involving Histadrut Drug Policy
Israeli police unit Lahav 433 confiscated tens of millions of shekels from the accounts of a public company and several of its senior executives as part of an ongoing bribery investigation. The probe centers on suspicions that the company provided benefits and payments to insurance agent Ezra Gabai to influence the renewal of the Histadrut's drug insurance policy. Authorities allege Gabai used his purported influence over Arnon Bar-David, chairman of the Histadrut, to secure the policy's renewal, thereby increasing the company's profits. Bar-David has been arrested in connection with the case. Police stated that evidence gathered so far strengthens the suspicions against those involved, and further interrogations are expected. The investigation, known as "Yad Lochatz Yad" (Hand Shaking Hand), continues to expand.
