Singer Ishay Levi Hospitalized in Serious Condition Amid Rumors About His Health
Singer Ishay Levi is hospitalized in serious condition in a hospital. His family announced this evening, Saturday, after rumors about his condition circulated over the weekend. "We want to thank everyone for their great concern and ask that the rumor mill be calmed down," the family said.
In 2005, Levi was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Six years later, he was hospitalized with a complication from pneumonia that put his life at risk, and since then he stopped smoking. Last August, Levi was forced to cancel a performance in Modi'in because of a health condition that prevented him from going on stage.
Levi, 63, one of the leading singers in the Mizrahi music genre, is behind a string of successful hits, including "Ra'aya," "Rakdi," "Rikud Romanti" and "Ha'ahat Sheli." In a career that began in the mid-1980s, Levi has released more than 20 albums. In 1984, he released his first album, "Hafla im Ben-Moshe," and in 1986 his second album, "Hine Ba HaYom," from which the song "Ra'aya" was especially successful. In 1989, he released the album "Lehatil miBereishit," which featured the hit "Rakdi." In 2008, Levi returned to activity with the album "Rikud Romanti." In 2010, he released the song "Ha'ahat Sheli," which became a hit in the charts and was the title track of the album he released in 2011.
