Hatzor Galil Council Head Leaves Likud to Back Avigdor Lieberman and Yisrael Beiteinu

Michael Kabsa, head of the Hatzor Galil Regional Council, announced on Monday his departure from the Likud party and declared his support for Yisrael Beiteinu and its leader Avigdor Lieberman for prime minister. Kabsa has spent the past two and a half years in a prolonged struggle against the Netanyahu government, advocating for the residents of Hatzor Galil. He criticized the government for neglecting the region and excluding it from aid programs despite the severe impact it suffered since the outbreak of the war.

Kabsa stated that after all the hardships faced by northern Israel, he believes the country needs a leader who delivers results. He praised Lieberman as a strong, experienced leader with a vision who has demonstrated genuine commitment to the north’s residents. Kabsa highlighted Lieberman’s role in initiating and advancing the northern defense plan and his belief in the potential of Hatzor Galil and the Galilee region.

Avigdor Lieberman welcomed Kabsa’s decision, commending his exceptional leadership since October 7. Lieberman noted Kabsa’s active role in fighting in the south during the early days of the war and his leadership on the northern front throughout the conflict. He emphasized Kabsa’s relentless advocacy for Hatzor Galil residents in government, parliament, courts, and public arenas. Lieberman expressed confidence that together they will continue working for the security of the north and all Israeli citizens, affirming Yisrael Beiteinu’s commitment to the region.
