Hamas Government in Gaza Resigns Symbolically to Allow Technocratic Committee Management

The Hamas government in the Gaza Strip announced its resignation to enable a technocratic committee to take over the administration of the territory. Despite this move, Hamas clarified that all government employees would remain in their positions under the committee's management. Israeli officials dismissed the resignation as a meaningless spin and a stalling tactic designed to facilitate the technocratic committee's entry under conditions favorable to Hamas, which continues to control Gaza behind the scenes.

Senior Israeli sources indicated they had received prior indications of this development but viewed it as a symbolic gesture intended to create an appearance of progress for mediators. They emphasized that Hamas retains actual control as all officials remain in place.

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem told Al-Arabi channel that the resignation from the emergency government committee chairmanship was an important decision supporting Hamas's stance of not participating in post-war arrangements in Gaza. He explained the move was meant to allow the national committee to begin its work, including facilitating humanitarian aid and advancing reconstruction efforts.
