Yossi Dagan Secures Romanian Support Against Sanctions on West Bank Settlers

Yossi Dagan, head of the Shomron Regional Council, recently garnered significant backing from Romanian parliament members against sanctions targeting organizations and settlers in the West Bank. This diplomatic effort took place during Dagan's official visit to Romania, where he met with several senior officials, including Romanian presidential candidate George Simion.

During his meetings, Dagan articulated his opposition to boycott initiatives promoted by far-left groups, highlighting the illogical nature of penalizing organizations involved in construction and social activities amid ongoing Palestinian terrorism in the region. Romanian parliamentarians expressed strong support for the settlements. European Parliament member Georgiana Teodorescu declared, "We stand with Judea and Samaria and with Israel. We will not budge even a centimeter and will fight any attempt to promote sanctions in the European Parliament." Romanian Senator Patrisor Paiu added, "We oppose sanctions against Judea and Samaria and support the right of the people of Israel to live in peace."

Dagan thanked his hosts, emphasizing the shared struggle for values, justice, and security, stating, "Our fight is for the future of the entire world, whether in Europe, the United States, or Israel. We stand united against all sanctions and fight for these values together." This visit builds on a series of recent diplomatic engagements by Dagan with European leaders aimed at strengthening international ties and rallying support against sanction initiatives targeting Israel and West Bank settlements.
