Iran Strengthens Military Amid Ceasefire as Israel and US Prepare for Possible Escalation
Tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States remain high as all parties prepare for a potential escalation. In Tehran, Iranian military officials state they are using the current ceasefire period to rebuild and enhance their military capabilities. Brigadier General Mohammad Ekrami Nia emphasized that no time is wasted in increasing operational readiness and warned the US that any misstep will be met with a decisive response. Meanwhile, Iranian Deputy Chief of Staff Admiral Habibollah Sayyari affirmed the military's commitment to follow the path of the recently killed leader Ali Khamenei, whose death Iran vows will not go unanswered.
On the Israeli side, security officials confirm that military options remain on the table if diplomatic efforts fail. An Israeli delegation is expected to visit Washington soon, with Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar scheduled to meet US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Defense Minister Israel Katz possibly visiting as well. Katz stated that Khamenei was eliminated by Israel due to his role in planning Israel's destruction and warned that any Iranian leader attempting similar plans will be thwarted. He also affirmed Israel's readiness to defend itself independently against any threat.
Meanwhile, the US continues to reduce its military presence in the Middle East amid growing public opposition to further conflict with Iran. Recently, 11 F-15E fighter jets and at least two F-35A stealth fighters departed Jordan's Muwaffaq Salti Air Base for their home bases in Britain. Additional US combat, refueling, and transport aircraft have also left the Central Command area. President Donald Trump faces a political dilemma ahead of November elections, balancing pressure against renewed fighting with concerns over the impact on fuel prices and regional stability.
