Mother of Five Fatally Shot at Ferguson Gas Station While Buying Drinks for Children
Shikila Martin, a 35-year-old mother of five from Missouri, was fatally shot near midnight at a BP gas station in Ferguson, USA, while purchasing slushies for her children. The shooting occurred after a confrontation inside the convenience store escalated to the parking lot, where gunfire broke out. Martin was with her 9- and 6-year-old children and was struck by gunfire as she returned to her car. Ferguson police believe she was an innocent bystander not involved in the altercation. Police Chief Troy Doyle stated that Martin was simply there to buy drinks for her young children, who were not physically harmed but are understandably traumatized by witnessing their mother’s death.
Martin’s family revealed she was preparing to move with her children to a new home the following day and had stopped at the gas station to celebrate this new chapter. A fundraising campaign launched after her death described her as a devoted mother whose life was tragically cut short at age 35. The donations aim to cover funeral expenses and support her children, as Martin did not have life insurance.
