A 40-year-old Indiana mother, Jean Gragg, was killed after stepping in to protect her teenage son during a Facebook Marketplace sale. The incident happened outside their home in Edison Park, Indiana, on Monday a week ago, when they met an 18-year-old buyer, John Ford, to sell him a watch.
According to local police, Ford suddenly pulled a gun and threatened the son during the transaction. Gragg, who worked as an office manager, immediately moved between Ford and her son, pushed him off her property, and tried to stop the confrontation.
Ford then fired several shots at Gragg, striking her in the head in front of her shocked family. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later declared brain dead. On Thursday, doctors removed her from life support.
Police later located and arrested Ford. He has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and robbery.
