Five Injured in Clan Shooting Incident in Ar'ara, Including One Critically

A shooting between rival clans in the Bedouin town of Ar'ara in the Negev resulted in five civilians being wounded on Monday. The National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir visited the neighborhood following the incident. Southern District police launched an operational response after reports of gunfire between clans. During the operation, officers identified a vehicle suspected of firing at another car and responded with gunfire to neutralize the threat and arrest suspects.

Five civilians were injured in the exchange, with four evacuated to Soroka Medical Center; three were in moderate condition and one critically injured. It remains unclear whether the injuries were caused by clan gunfire or police return fire. A search of the vehicle uncovered a pistol and magazines believed to be linked to the suspects. Southern District Commander Chief Superintendent Haim Bublil praised the officers for their decisive and engaged response.

This incident follows a similar shooting about a month ago in Ar'ara, where four men were shot, including a man in his 40s critically wounded. Police have deployed numerous officers and checkpoints in the area, attributing the violence to ongoing clan disputes escalating into heavy gunfire.
