Minister Dudi Amsalem Rejects Netanyahu as First Mizrahi PM, Credits Left-Wing Opposition for His Longevity

Israeli Minister Dudi Amsalem spoke in a podcast hosted by Avi Shushan, addressing the claim that Benjamin Netanyahu is the first Mizrahi prime minister. Amsalem strongly denied this, stating that Netanyahu's social circle was not like that of Mizrahi families such as his own. He explained that Netanyahu grew up in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Rehavia, associating with his father's peers and local residents rather than Mizrahi communities. Furthermore, Amsalem described Netanyahu as "not a warm person."

Amsalem also argued that Netanyahu remains prime minister primarily because the political left has relentlessly pursued him. He said, "They hate him because he leads us and is talented. They made the mistake of their lives by chasing Netanyahu; if they had left him alone, Netanyahu would no longer be prime minister."

In a related development, the daughter of former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot reportedly threatened Netanyahu, saying, "He will not enter my home." This adds to the ongoing tensions surrounding Netanyahu's leadership and public perception.
