Romanian Presidential Front-Runner George Simion Voices Support for Judea and Samaria

George Simion, the leading candidate for Romania's presidency, met with Yossi Dagan, head of the Shomron Regional Council, to discuss ongoing cooperation and the strategic importance of Judea and Samaria to Israel. Their relationship spans about four years, including joint visits and strengthened collaboration. During the meeting, Dagan presented Simion with an engraving of biblical sites in Shomron, and both issued a joint statement emphasizing their shared values and mutual fight against terrorism.

Simion, who narrowly lost the Romanian presidential election runoff in May 2025, is currently a prominent contender for the upcoming elections. His party, which helped topple the government, leads polls with approximately 42% support compared to 19% in the current parliament. Simion expressed strong support for the residents of Judea and Samaria, wishing for peace, security, and a united effort to stop terrorism and defend the free world.

Dagan wished Simion success in the elections and highlighted Judea and Samaria as the heart of Israel and the world, stressing their common enemies and values. This meeting follows a series of Dagan’s engagements with European leaders, including a recent meeting with Slovenia’s newly elected Prime Minister Janez Janša, who also extended greetings and support to Judea and Samaria and the Israel-Slovenia friendship.
