Jurgen Klopp Set to Become Germany National Team Coach After 2026 World Cup Exit

Two years after leaving Liverpool, German coach Jurgen Klopp is poised to return to the sidelines as the new head coach of the Germany national football team. According to Fabrizio Romano, the 59-year-old will soon sign a long-term contract following Germany's disappointing exit from the 2026 World Cup. Julian Nagelsmann, who had led Germany for three years and remained in charge after their Euro 2024 quarterfinal elimination, was dismissed after the team was knocked out in the round of 32 by Paraguay.

Since departing Liverpool, Klopp has been on a coaching hiatus, working mainly as a football analyst and as a football director at Red Bull. This appointment will mark Klopp's first time coaching a national team, having previously managed Mainz, Borussia Dortmund, and Liverpool since the early 2000s. The German Football Association is expected to finalize the deal soon as they seek to rebuild the national team after the recent setbacks.
