Belz Hasidic Community Launches New Neighborhood in West Kiryat Gat with Hundreds of Families
The Belz Hasidic community, one of Israel's largest and most influential ultra-Orthodox groups, has signed an agreement to establish a new neighborhood within the "Mishkenot Shir" housing project in western Kiryat Gat. This development, led by the companies Reisdor and Shabiro, is expected to house several hundred Belz families, marking one of the first major organized communities to join the new district.
The move is seen as a significant milestone for the ultra-Orthodox sector, providing a strong foundation for community life from the outset, including educational institutions, synagogues, community centers, and comprehensive services. The Mishkenot Shir project is among the largest housing initiatives currently underway for the Haredi public in Israel, featuring approximately 2,500 housing units with a variety of apartment sizes and family-oriented designs.
Strategically located, the new neighborhood offers excellent access to major highways (Highway 6 and Highway 35) and the Kiryat Gat train station, enabling convenient travel to Jerusalem, Bnei Brak, and central Israel. The area also benefits from proximity to one of Israel's largest employment hubs, including industrial parks, high-tech companies, and ongoing government infrastructure investments.
Industry experts view the entry of the Belz community as a catalyst that will encourage other ultra-Orthodox groups to consider relocating to the West Kiryat Gat district, which is emerging as a key ultra-Orthodox residential center for the coming decade. Yaki Reisner, co-owner of Reisdor Group, expressed enthusiasm about the agreement, highlighting its importance for the community's growth and its potential to attract additional communities to the new neighborhood.
