Israel Railways Announces Major Service Changes for Crucial Infrastructure Work Near Kfar Chabad
Israel Railways has announced significant train service disruptions from July 9 to 11, 2026, due to essential infrastructure upgrades near Kfar Chabad aimed at enhancing long-term safety and service quality. These works, scheduled during the summer when passenger numbers are relatively lower, will cause temporary closures of Kfar Chabad and Lod Ganei Aviv stations and suspension of regular train lines between Lod and Tel Aviv.
Train lines between Beersheba and Nahariya, and Beersheba and Karmiel, will operate in a split format between Beersheba Merkaz and Lod, and between Tel Aviv HaHagana and Nahariya or Karmiel. Similarly, the Ashkelon-Binyamina line will run split services between Ashkelon and Lod, and Tel Aviv HaHagana and Binyamina. The Rehovot-Netanya line will only operate between Tel Aviv Savidor Merkaz and Netanya, while the Beit Shemesh-Netanya line will run limited services on July 9 and split services on July 10-11.
To ease passenger inconvenience, Israel Railways will provide free shuttle buses and operate a dedicated nonstop shuttle between Lod and Tel Aviv Savidor Merkaz with hourly frequency. The Western Negev line will continue operating normally, and regular bus services will be increased. Passengers are advised to arrive early on July 9 and consider alternative travel options.
Full train service is expected to resume on Sunday, July 12, 2026. Travelers are encouraged to check updates via the Israel Railways website, app, or customer service. The company apologized for the temporary inconvenience and thanked passengers for their understanding and patience.
