Iran's Ambassador to China Confirms Plans to Levy Fees at Strait of Hormuz

Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, Iran's ambassador to China, affirmed that Iran will impose fees on vessels passing through the strategic Strait of Hormuz despite opposition from the United States. He stated that Iran is collaborating with Oman to establish "new arrangements" for the waterway. According to Fazli, since the Strait of Hormuz is part of Iran's territorial waters, the country is determined to collect tolls. The new framework will also include guarantees for passage security, monitoring mechanisms, and address environmental impacts.
