Democratic Party Activists Attacked at Tel Aviv Market, Two Arrested
Activists from the Democratic Party were attacked on Friday at the Tikva Market in Tel Aviv. After setting up a booth, a group of people gathered around them, some physically and verbally assaulting the activists. Video footage shows one attacker punching a party activist while others shouted "He deserves it" and told the activists to "get out of here." Police from the Tel Aviv South station arrived and arrested two suspects suspected of involvement in the assault; they were taken in for questioning.
The footage also shows the assailants removing signs, and in one incident, an attacker confronted a religious party activist, later removing his kippah from his head. Knesset member Naama Lazimi, representing the Democratic Party, condemned the attack on her social media account, stating she was "shocked by the violent attack on Democratic Party activists at Tikva Market." She added that the extreme incitement by the outgoing government and its propaganda channels is permeating the streets and warned that this is just a preview of what they plan for the upcoming elections. Lazimi emphasized that such violence cannot be ignored or tolerated in silence.
