Ilan Ashel Vows to Preserve Truth on 1,000 Days Since Daughter Roni's Death in October War

Ilan Ashel, father of Roni Ashel, a lookout killed on October 7, spoke at a rally in Tel Aviv marking 1,000 days since the war began. In his speech, he criticized political figures including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who he said has only physically changed since the war by losing weight. He also mentioned Bezalel Smotrich, who claimed credit for the return of hostages, including those who came back as bodies, and Smotrich's colleague Simcha Rothman, who described their term as excellent. Additionally, he referenced Orit Strook, who believes the current period is a miracle. Ilan Ashel contrasted these statements with his own grief, saying that exactly 1,000 days ago his life stopped with the loss of his daughter. He promised, "Roni, my dear, I vow we will not allow the truth to be blurred or your death to be rewritten in history by anyone."
